Easy if you have baking experience
Medium if you have absolutely no baking experience
I had never baked a pie--or anything that didn't start with a pre-made mix in a box for that matter--before trying out this recipe. And, I have to say, it was pretty shocking how well this pie came out for a person with no baking experience. Before I knew it I was making pie for Sunday Funday, for the neighbors as a thank you for dog sitting Sadie, and for every person that came to our house for dinner, lunch or breakfast. I actually made three pies for Thanksgiving, and pictured above is the one I even made for a photo shoot. So needless to say, this recipe is truly that easy.
Below is my take on the original recipe and the photos I took as I baked the pie for the photo shoot above. Though I baked this one for a winter wedding photo shoot, apple pie is perfect addition to a dessert table in any season. Read through the end to get a few tips for making it seasonally appropriate for any wedding. Enjoy!
Step 1: Peel, Core & Slice the Apples
Once you're done prepping the apples, put one part of the pie crust into a pie dish, press it down to take the shape of the dish, and then start loading up the pie dish with apple slices.
Step 2: Make a Lattice Crust
Step 3: Filling & Finishing Touches
Step 4: Jazz It Up!
Lastly, add some finishing touches to make the pie fit in perfectly with any dessert table. Sprinkle fresh fruit over the top for a summer wedding, add glazed almonds and a sprig of fresh herbs for a fall wedding, sprinkle powdered sugar for a winter wedding, or add anything else you can dream up! Serve it at room temperature or warm--either way it's amazingly delicious.
And voila! There you have it--a simple apple pie recipe that will make a beautiful and tasty addition to any dessert table!
